About this course
Build the human factors knowledge behind effective airline crews. This course takes New Zealand ATPL Human Factors into the pressurised, automated, multi-crew flight deck, connecting the theory with the decisions pilots make on the line.
Explore high-altitude physiology, fatigue and rostering, crew communication, threat and error management, safety culture and automation. Interactive simulations, practical scenarios and module reviews help you understand the mechanisms, recognise the warning signs and choose effective defences.
Finish with focused revision and a practice exam designed to test understanding across Subject 46.
What you'll get
- Airline scenarios throughout, with pilot flying and pilot monitoring responsibilities
- High-altitude physiology, pressurisation loss and oxygen systems
- Sleep, circadian rhythms, fatigue and airline rostering
- CRM, leadership, communication and threat and error management
- Interactive simulations covering human performance and flight deck systems
- Module reviews, focused exam revision and a full practice exam
Before you start
- PPL and CPL Human Factors knowledge is assumed.
- Familiarity with instrument flying and basic aircraft systems is helpful. Previous airline experience is not required.

Frequently asked questions
Who is this course for?
Pilots preparing for New Zealand ATPL Human Factors, including commercial pilots, airline cadets and first officers. It builds on PPL and CPL knowledge and teaches Subject 46 in a multi-crew airline setting.
How does it differ from CPL Human Factors?
The focus moves to the crew and the airline around it. Topics include high-altitude pressurisation loss, oxygen systems, long-haul fatigue, leadership, organisational safety and automation, with scenarios built around a two-pilot flight deck.
What learning and revision tools are included?
Short lessons, interactive simulations, scenario checkpoints and module review quizzes support each topic. Focused revision lessons and a practice exam bring the subject together for exam preparation.
Do I need airline experience before starting?
No. PPL and CPL Human Factors knowledge is assumed, but the lessons explain airline concepts such as pilot flying and pilot monitoring roles, standard calls and the shared crew picture.
What can I try in the featured simulations?
Explore how sleep, wake-up time and the body clock shape pilot alertness. Then compare an EFIS display failure with a sensor failure and investigate what display reversion can recover.
When can I enrol, and what will it cost?
ATPL Human Factors is coming soon at NZ$399 for one year of access. Enrolment is not open yet. Contact us for availability and launch updates.
